PlasmoGEM vectors

What's in this database?

P. berghei

  • 13882 genomic DNA library clones for propagation in E. coli cover 4765 genes. Our attempts to make a genome-wide library of barcoded knockout vectors succeeded for 3097 genes. We also have c-terminal tagging vectors for 666 genes and a separate library of P. berghei artificial chromosomes covering roughly 4500 genes.
  • For most reagents, we display maps and quality control data. We also offer downloadable sequence files.
  • KO vectors were used in different genetic screens generating >12,000 phenotype measurements. The database provides a one-stop shop to search, browse, and download phenotype data from these screens.

P. chabaudi

  • A gDNA library covers 4489 genes. Of these, barcoded KO vectors were made for 496, but possible vector designs to disrupt or tag other genes were automatically generated for those who want to engineer their own vectors.

P. knowlesi

  • A gDNA library covering 4120 genes in linear plasmids was used in a pilot study to make 119 gene KO and 169 c-terminal tagging vectors.

P. falciparum

  • A small gDNA library covering 1336 P. falciparum genes is available. We believe the extreme AT richness of this species prevented higher coverage and also posed greater challenges to recombinase-mediated DNA engineering in E. coli.
